GRAFTING WORKSHOP: 3/12 in Burnsville. 3/25 in Candler. $30-60 sliding scale. Apple rootstocks and scionwood included. All the details at forvillagers.com. Link in bio Fun week at the Nuttery cracking and sorting hybrid hazelnuts with @fullsunfarm and shellbark hickories with @carlottaabbott, who brought them in from Kentucky. Any locals want some low-cost apple rootstock? I'm trying to coordinate an order of 1000 trees so we can get a big discount. Would come to around $1.65 per tree. I'm ordering Geneva 890, which is said to perform well in our area. It's similar in size to M7 but yields sooner and more heavily. What's fallier than punkin spice? How about punkin spice acorn chestnut waffles? Extra tree crop credit if topped with black walnuts and doused in maple syrup. The news from nutland this fall is that we're taking the season off from processing nuts. Nuts 👏 all👏 day👏 Come black walnutting with us in Fairview this Saturday! 10-2ish, with lunch provided. Nuts are yours for the taking, or you can bring them to the Nuttery. Send a dm for more details and to RSVP. Saturday, September 11, 10:00am to 1pm Hole Doughnuts is serving up hot acorn flour doughnuts made over an open fire while Justin talks about the co-operative, community agroforestry projects responsible for the acorn flour. And we'll crack open some other nuts, like the relevance of mutual aid and perennial agriculture to these climatically and politically chaotic times, and how you can get involved, should you want to get in on the fun. In collaboration with Co-operate WNC, the regional mutual aid network we're proud to be a part of.
